Mail Relay

Note: Using the Fully Qualified Domain Name is preferable.

Some SMTP packages require the use of a mail relay or "smart host." If you can enter a domain name in this configuration field, please use:

USA relay.smtp.psi.net
Canada relay.psi.ca

If you must use an IP address, please pick the machine closest to you from the following list.

Northeast U.S. 38.8.210.2
Southeast U.S. 38.8.14.2
Central U.S. 38.8.188.2
Northwest & Southwest U.S. 38.9.52.2

Canada

154.11.136.226
154.11.137.2

Backup Mail Exchangers

If we're providing your site with backup mail exchangers, the machines used will be one of the following groups.

Pref. Group 1
5000 mx.smtp.psi.net 38.8.100.2
5000 mx2.smtp.psi.net 38.9.26.2
5000 mx3.smtp.psi.net 38.8.111.2
Pref. Group 2
5000 mx4.smtp.psi.net 38.8.138.2
5000 mx5.smtp.psi.net 38.8.139.2
5000 mx6.smtp.psi.net 38.8.140.2
Pref. Group 3
5000 mx7.smtp.psi.net 38.8.9.2
5000 mx8.smtp.psi.net 38.8.10.2
5000 mx9.smtp.psi.net 38.8.15.2
Pref. Canada
5000 mx1.psi.ca 154.11.137.34
5000 mx2.psi.ca 154.11.137.66

These backup mail exchangers will hold your mail for up to one week. The mail queue on these machines is processed every 10-15 minutes. So, if your connection is active for 15 minutes, all your backed-up mail should be delivered. If you do not want to keep your connection active for a full 15 minutes yet you still need to receive mail from the mail exchangers, you can issue the following command:

finger <host.domain.com>@<mail exchanger 1>

where <host.domain.com> is replaced with the host name of your SMTP Gateway and <mail exchanger 1> is the first mail exchanger in either Group 1, 2 or 3. If you are unsure which group of mail exchangers is being used for your domain, please contact Corporate Support.
