Configuring a Livingston IRX 211 Via the Console

Wiring Diagram

To configure a Livingston IRX-211 you must connect a console to the Console port of the router. A null modem cable is required.

Connect the null modem cable to the console port (S0) of the IRX and to a PC (or Mac with proper cables) with VT100 emulation software.

9600, 8, none 1

Follow the configuration template.

Otherwise you can telnet into the box.

The Livingston IRX-211 comes with the following:

Cables:

  • DB9F - DB25M Console Cable
    (DB25F-DB25F null modem adapter is included)

Ports:

  • Two Ethernet Interfaces with 10BaseT/BNC/AUI connection
  • One Serial WAN port v.35/RS232 (DB25 F)
  • One Serial Console port DB25F

To connect the router to the demarc, connect the RJ45 provided with the CSU/DSU to the demarc and to the CSU/DSU. Connect the V.35 - DB25 cable to the CSU/DSU and to the WAN port on the router.
