Configuration with RouterViewRouting with Compatible Systems MicroRouter 1220i, 1250i, 1270i for Dedicated Access Service OS Version 4.0.1 or Later
Installation InstallationRouterView is a graphical interface used to configure and monitor your Compatible Systems router. The only requirement is that the router is connected to your network. Install and run the RouterView software using the disk provided with the router. (The software comes with a MAC and PC version.) For the Windows version, the Install Wizard is in Setup.exe To connect to the router, choose Administration, then Add Routers... RouterView will then find the Microrouter: ![]() If for some reason RouterView does not detect the unit on your network, try choosing Administration, then Options. Select Use IP transport to attempt a connection to the Ethernet IP address of your router. (Note: You must have TCP/IP configured on your workstation using an address on the same subnet as the router's ethernet address for this to work). General ConfigurationDouble click on your router to bring up its configuration: ![]() From here, we can double click on any section to bring up its settings. If we select the Ethernet A(0) - TCP/IP Routing block, we see: ![]() In this section, set your Ethernet IP address, subnet mask, and broadcast address. Make sure IP Routing is checked. All other parameters and subsections should be disabled here. The next section to view is the WAN A(0) - TCP/IP Routing block: ![]() Set the IP address, subnet mask, and broadcast address of your WAN interface. Verify the IP routing and RIP parameters are set correctly. All other subsections will be disabled here. Clicking on the static routes box should give a destination of 0.0.0.0 with a mask of 0.0.0.0 and a Gateway/Port of your POP's IP address. The metric is 1 and RIP should be checked. ![]() The next area to view is the WAN A(0) - Link Config box. ![]() Clicking on the Frame Relay button from here should give a Maintenance Protocol of ANSI Annex D and a Polling Frequency of 10 seconds. Enter your DLCI and the POP IP address in the DLCI section. 1250i and 1270i Models OnlyFinally, we set the CSU/DSU parameters in the WAN A(0) - General box: ![]() The figure above shows normal settings for a full T1. A 256k ckt, for instance, would have the Fractional T1 box checked, and four 64k contiguous channels. To save the configuration, choose Configuration, then Download to Router. RouterView has many statistical windows which can be very helpful for diagnostic checks on IP packets or Frame Relay errors. Refer to the RouterView manual for more information. |
