Upgrading the Ascend

To upgrade the system software you will need:

• Ascend System Software, version 4.5.
  Obtaining Ascend Software.

• Personal computer with a serial port to which you can connect your Ascend.

• Communication program that supports VT100 terminal emulation and XMODEM transfer. It must be configured as follows:
  • VT100 emulation
  • 9600 bits per second
  • 8 data bits
  • No parity
  • 1 stop bit
  • No or hardware flow control
  • Direct Connect
  • Sending and receiving ASCII text.

Ascend Communications recommends using:

• ProComm+ for PCs
• Zterm or White Knight for Macintoshes

Here are instructions for upgrading the software using:

• Zterm for Macintosh
• ProComm+ for PCs
• UNIX
