MPP Configuration

Configuring the Pipeline Router

This is for configuring the Pipeline 25 or 50 for use with two B channels.

When you first make a console connection to the router you will be put into the configure menu.

Make sure the Bridge=No and that Route=IP.

In the configure menu you will see:

Select BRI...

You will need to set the switch type, My Num A, My Num B, SPID A, and SPID B according to what the telco has provided.

Make sure to set Data Usage to A+B.

Hit ESC and select PPP...

You will need to set:

My name=<ACCOUNT ID> Rem Name=Net Dial #=<POP NUMBER> Send Auth=PAP Send PW=<ACCOUNT PASSWORD> Recv Auth=None Recv PW=N/A Call Filter=IP Call

Now hit ESC and select IP...

Under IP... you will need to set the following:

My Addr=<YOUR ROUTER ADDRESS> IP Gateway=38.1.1.1 Rem Addr=38.1.1.1/8

Now hit ESC and select Save. This should store the profile.

Hit ESC to go to the Main Edit Menu.

  • Select Ethernet
  • Select Connections
  • Select Net

Under Ethernet, Connections, the Net menu should look like:

Go under the Encaps options and make sure the values are set to the following:

The above values set it so that both channels will dial when you connect. If you do not use enough bandwidth to warrant using both channels, then set the Base Ch Count=1.

After the Encaps options are set hit ESC. This should bring you back to the Net menu.

Next go under session options:

And set Idle=600

Next go under telco options:

Set AnsOrig=Call Only

Set Data Sve to either 56K or 64K depending upon what the telco has told you.

After this has been done, then hit ESC until you get the screen:

Choose 2 for exit and accepting.

You should now be ready to dial your router. Type CTRL-D and choose 1 for dial.
