Installing TCP/IP

Go to My Computer.

Select Control Panel.

In Control Panel, double-click on Network.

If you already have the TCP/IP protocol installed, jump to the next section.
If you do NOT have the TCP/IP protocol already installed, click Add.

Highlight Protocol in the Select Network Component Type Dialog Box and click Add.

In the Protocol box, select Microsoft from the list of manufacturers and click TCP/IP in the list of Protocols.

Click OK.

You may be asked for your Windows 95 source diskettes, or CDROM.

If the TCP/IP network protocol has already been installed, click once on TCP/IP, then click the Properties button.

In the IP Address tab, click the Obtain an IP Address automatically radio button (this selects dynamic IP addressing).

Click on the WINS Configuration tab.

Make sure that the Use DHCP for WINS Resolution radio button is checked.

Click on Add.

Click on the DNS Configuration tab.

In the DNS Configuration sheet, click on Disable DNS.

Click on the Advanced tab.

NOTE: If you have more than one internet service provider, disable DNS on this tab. You can set all DNS information in the Dial-up Networking Settings.

The Advanced and Bindings settings do not need to be adjusted.

Please proceed to the next page to Add a Dial-Up Connection.
