Dial-Up Networking with Windows 3.1 (3.x)
Here is the configuration for using OS/2 Bonus Pack
Software to connect to the Remote Access Service.
1. After installing the OS/2 Bonus Pack Software,
in the Information Superhighway Window, click onto
"IBM Internet Connection for OS/2". In this group,
click onto "Internet Utilities". In this group,
click onto "Dial Other Internet Providers".
2. In the IBM Dial-Up for TCP/IP, click onto the
Add Entry icon. For Login Info, type in the
following information:
Name: psinet
Description: PPP-psinet
Login ID: username
Password: account password
Check the Required next to Password.
Phone Number:
Login Sequence: NONE
Connection Type: PPP
Inactivity Timeout Option is your decision.
(try 15 minutes for now)
3. For Connect Info, type in the following information:
Your IP Address leave blank.
Destination Address leave blank.
Netmask leave blank.
MRU Size should be 1500.
Check VJ Compression.
Domain Nameserver : 38.8.219.2
Your Host Name leave blank.
Your Domain Name : psinet.com
4. For Server Info, type the following information:
News Server: usenet.psinet.com
Gopher Server: leave blank
WWW Server: ams.psinet.com
POP Mail Server: pop3.psinet.com
Reply Domain leave blank.
(this maybe smtp.psinet.com)
Reply (Mail) ID leave blank.
(this maybe your userid)
POP Login ID: account id
POP Password: application or mail password
5. For Modem Info, type the following information:
Modem Type: (modem type)
(Hayes if yours is not there)
Com Port:
Speed (Baud):
(ie. if 14400 modem choose 19200)
Data Bits: 8
Parity: NONE
Prefix: ATDT
Initialization String 1: default string for the modem
(maybe AT&F)
Initialization String 2:
(maybe AT&F&C1&D2)
Call Waiting:
That's it!!
Save the configuration, dial out,
and you're (hopefully) in business!!
