Dial-Up Networking with Windows 3.1 (3.x)
1. To install Internet Valet, start Windows.
If any version of MicroPhone is already installed on your
computer, read SETUP.TXT on Disk 1 - Setup before installing
Internet Valet.
2. Insert Internet Valet's Disk 1 - Setup into your floppy drive.
3. In Program Manager, select run from the File menu.
4. In the Command Line field, type either 'a:\setup' or 'b:\setup'
(without quotes) depending on the location of the disk.
5. Click OK.
The Internet Valet Setup welcome screen will appear.
6. Click Continue to proceed with the Internet Valet Setup.
Be sure to close all other applications and save all data before
proceeding. (Click the Exit button to leave Internet Valet Setup.)
7. Internet Valet Setup will check your system to determine if Win32s
needs to be installed.
This may take a few seconds depending on the speed of your computer.
If Win32s must be installed, click Continue.
8. In the Internet Valet Setup Options dialog, you can customize the
installation.
For information about Internet Valet Setup Options, click the Help
button.
9. Click Continue to start the installation.
Insert the other Internet Valet disks when prompted.
10. After all files have been copied successfully onto your hard drive,
Internet Valet Setup will continue with the software configuration.
If the Win32s system components or other Windows sytem files were
installed, a dialog window will prompt you to restart Windows. After
Windows restarts, Internet Valet Setup will automatically continue
with Registration and Configuration. If you do not restart Windows
when prompted, Internet Valet may not work properly.
1. At Internet Valet Registration and Configuration, click Next.
2. In the Setup Option popup menu, select Configure Programs and TCP/IP
and click Next.
To be able to see the popup menu, you need to click on the down arrow
next to the Setup Option line. Configure programs and TCP/IP is the
last option.
This option will configure the Internet Valet programs and Trumpet
Winsock for use with your Remote Access account.
3. Fill in the information in Personal Information and click Next.
If you have already obtained an account from Remote Access and if this
page has a place to enter your credit card, click on the back button
and go back to step 2. Be sure to choose Configure Programs and
TCP/IP from the options menu.
Type in the requested information to personalize Internet Valet.
Please fill in the information accurately, as it will be used when
you register with Software Ventures.
You must register with Software Ventures in order to be eligible
for free technical support and be informed of updates and new products.
4. Fill in the information in Configure Applications and click Next.
This page will be used to configure the Internet Valet programs.
You can configure (or reconfigure) you Internet Valet programs at
any time by running Internet Valet Setup again.
Please reference your Remote Access account information supplied by
Remote Access when filling in this information.

5. Fill in the information in Configure TCP/IP.
This page will be used to configure Trumpet Winsock. For
more information about Trumpet Winsock, read TRUMPET.DC or
TRUMPET.TXT located in the \VALET\WINSOCK\ directory.
IP Address: 0.0.0.0
Protocol: PAP
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway IP: 38.1.1.1
Domain Name: psinet.com
DNS IP: 38.8.219.2 38.8.220.2
Modem: Choose the modem that matches your computer's
configuration.
Connection Port: Choose the correct Com Port for your modem.
Phone Number: Choose an psinet Access number. A list of
psinet Access Numbers can be found at the
end of this installation guide.
Account Name: psinet account name
Password: psinet Password
6. Click Configure.
Internet Valet Setup will configure the programs, the palette,
and your Trumpet Winsock.
Now, you can proceed to the Internet Valet Quick tour for a fun
and easy tour of the Internet. There should be a small manual
included which will help you on your way.
