Multiple TCP/IP Configuration IssueTroubleshooting Remote Access Issues If you are dialing the Internet via a Remote Access account on a computer that is configured for your LAN, you may sometimes find that other machines on your LAN are unreachable. This is due to Windows getting confused by having more than one TCP/IP configuration in the Network Control panel. The Traceroute command can be used to help verify connectivity issues. At the DOS prompt, type tracert w.x.y.z, where w.x.y.z is the IP address of the local LAN machine. If the trace "times out" on the first hop then it is probably due to the aforementioned multiple TCP/IP configuration issue. To resolve this problem, either remove the TCP/IP stack for the ethernet card in the computer or look for a software solution. One such solution can be found at netswitcher.com.
