How to Configure ConfigPPP For Use With MacTCP

Open 'Control Panels' and choose ConfigPPP.




Click the New button and enter Remote Access for the "PPP Server Name". Also make sure that Port Name correctly identifies the port your modem is hooked up to. Now click on 'Config...'.




Port speed: This depends on the speed of your modem.

Flow control: CTS Only internal modems; CTS & RTS, DTR external modems

Phone Number: PSINet Dial up Number
Omit "*70, " if you don't have call waiting. If you need to find an access number click here.

Modem Init: AT&F&C1&D2

Now click on the Authentication button:




Auth. ID: Your Remote Access Account ID
Examples: ct12345, cc123456,tf888888.

Note: Do not put in your name or email alias; these will not work. Also, make sure the letters are lowercase.

Password: Your Password. The password is case sensitive. Your password will be hidden so be careful when typing it!

Then click OK and then Done.



Dialing

To Connect: Just run your favorite Internet program. (Netscape, Eudora, etc...)

To Disconnect: Go to your PPP Control Panel and click on the Close button.
