Introduction
The Remote Access Account Management System (AMS) enables your technical representative to easily manage all their Remote Access accounts. The system is accessible via the Internet and was created to make account management easy, quick and accurate.
Customer Benefits
The Remote Access AMS is designed to facilitate the management of your remote access accounts. Benefits include the following:
- Time Savings:
You save time by using the web-based AMS to manage all your Remote Access accounts. You can view and edit existing accounts, and add new accounts. You can also view usage reports online.
- Simplicity:
The AMS is simple. Point and click functions enable you to use the menu and then manage your accounts. A User Guide and Frequently Asked Questions are available to you at all times.
- Control:
The AMS puts you in control of your own accounts. Your technical representative can add new accounts, enable or disable accounts, and allow roaming access through the AMS.
- Security:
Access to the AMS is provided via a unique login name and password. The AMS encrypts all transactions to provide an additional level of security.
Accessing the Account Management Page
Account Management Page URL
To access the AMS, use the following URL:
http://ams.psinet.com/
SSL Encryption
After successfully accessing the URL, you will receive the following message on your screen:
Select the method you wish to use by clicking on SSL Enabled AMS or Non-SSL Enabled AMS.
The AMS supports secure transactions via Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption.*
You must use a browser with 128-bit encryption to take advantage of the SSL-enabled AMS. You will be asked to choose between using the SSL-enabled AMS and the non SSL-enabled AMS.
*SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is a program layer created by Netscape for managing the security of message transmissions in a network. Netscape's idea is that the programming for keeping messages confidential ought to be contained in a program layer between an application (such as the Web browser or HTTP) and the Internet's TCP/IP layers. The "sockets" part of the term refers to the sockets method of passing data back and forth between a client and a server program in a network or between program layers in the same computer. Netscape's SSL uses the public-and-private key encryption system from RSA, which also includes the use of a digital certificate.
SSL is an integral part of each Netscape browser. If a Web site is on a Netscape server, SSL can be enabled and specific Web pages can be identified as requiring SSL access.
Administrator Login
The Administrator Login Name and Password are sent to your technical representative shortly after you complete the contract for service. You will receive a welcome kit, containing information on accessing the AMS.
Those who have been using the original version of AMS can use their existing Administrator Login Names and Passwords to access the new AMS.
After selecting the encryption method to access the system, you will receive an Administrator Login screen, as indicated below. You should enter your Remote Access Administrator Login Name and Password, and click on the Login button.
When you have successfully entered your Login Name and Password, you will receive the first page of the AMS. Your customer number, usbpxxxx, will be displayed at the top center of the screen with a command menu on the left side.
This page may contain a message with current information and/or it may contain a message specific to you. From this page you can:
- Manage Users
- View Reports
- Manage Administrator Accounts
- Obtain Helpful Information
- Logout of the System
Time Out Notification
If you leave the login screen blank for 10 minutes or more and then attempt to enter your Login Name and Password, the system will return a Time Out Notification:
Your session has expired, please Login again
If you receive the Time Out Notification, simply click on the Login command and re-enter your Login Name and Password.
Once connected to the AMS, if you don't enter information within 15 minutes of your last keystroke, you will receive a Time Out Notification:
