MacTCP Configuration Guide

You will need your assigned CIDR network number and the two closest DNS resolvers.

Open the System Folder on your startup disk drive.

From the System Folder open Control Panels.

From Control Panels open the MacTCP icon.

From MacTCP select Ethernet, then click on the More button.

IP information displays.

In the Obtain Address section:

  • Select Manually.

In the IP Address section:

  • Select Class: C.

In the Gateway Address box:

  • Enter the IP address of your router.
    For example: 38.254.100.1

In the Domain Name Server Information section:

  • Enter the IP address and Fully Qualified Domain Name of the DNS Resolvers for your geographic location.

Click OK.

This will bring you back to the main MacTCP screen.

In the IP Address box enter your assigned CIDR network number (a.b.c.x) where x is an UNUSED host IP address. (Keep in mind that the router has already been assigned the .l host IP address.)

For example: 38.254.100.2

Close the MacTCP control panel by clicking on the close button in the upper left hand corner of the panel.

You will be prompted to restart.

Click OK.

The Mac will restart. TCP/IP services should be available after the restart.
