E-mail: WinSMTP for Windows 3.1, 3.11Download the WinSMTP file, saving it to your hard drive. Open File Manager and find the winsmtp.exe file that was just downloaded. Double click the file to start the installation program. ![]() Click on the Unzip button to proceed. When prompted, answer Yes to proceed. ![]() The program then prompts you for the Directory in which you would like to install the software. Click on OK to accept the default directory. The User Information window displays next. ![]() Enter your name in the Name box. Enter your organization's name in the Organization box. Click on OK to continue. Accept the rest of the default information that the program prompts you for. A message displays informing you that the program has successfully been installed. Create a Program Group for WinSMTPFrom Program Manager Choose File, New. Select New Program Group. Name it WINSMTP. Click in the new window and go to File, New and select New Program Item. Enter the path to WinSMTP. The default is: C:\WINSMTP\WINSMTP.EXE Now Click on the WinSMTP icon that was just created. This will bring up the WINSMTP window. Verify Configuration SettingsGo to the Configuration Menu and select System. The System Options window displays. ![]()
To Add a User AccountGo to the Configuration, Users entry. The System Users window displays. ![]() This is the windows were the POP3 accounts are set up. Enter a username in the User ID box. In the User Type section click on User. In the User Name box enter the same name as the User ID. In the Password box enter a password for that account. In the Mailbox box enter a mailbox for that user. This file name must be unique. For example: C:\WINSMTP\user1.mbx Click on the Add button. Click on the Close Button. You must restart WinSMTP for these changes to take effect. After you restart WinSMTP, you can configure your POP client to point at the WINSMTP machine as its POP server and SMTP server. |
