DNS: IntegrationThere are many possible configurations for the DNS that you could use. The configuration of your DNS depends heavily upon the type of connection you have. If you have a leased line you may set things up one way, while a dial-up account may have a different configuration. Should you do your own name service? A primary name server should be connected 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A dial-up connection is not designed to be online all day, so you would not want to do your own name service. However, a leased line customer might want to do their own since their connection to the Internet is always up. It is also important to take into account the network number we have assigned to you. If you do not have a full 24-bit network number capable of 254 hosts, we cannot delegate primary name service to you. Thus, it is unwise to conduct primary name service for the forward zone, such as domain.com.
